On Monday 26 October, Nicolas Namoradze was one of five pianists to give the first performance of get used to it man thats the way we live now, a new piece by Matthias Kriesberg. The concert, held at Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works, was the 28th edition of its False Harmonics series and was presented by the Currawong Project.

Nicolas shared the stage with Han Chen, Arseniy Gusev, Asiya Korepanova and Élisabeth Pion. The five pianists rotated between three Steinway Spirio | r grand pianos, with live electronics by Kevin Larke and a projected film by Huei Lin. Scriabin was the evening’s guiding spirit: his music was slipped into the Kriesberg piece without warning in the first half, and the second half began with some of his earlier works before returning to a very different version of the new piece.

A distinctive feature of the project is its use of technology. Software listens to the pianists as they play and uses what it hears to shape the electronic layer, so every performance feeds into the next.
